Towns, cities and regions have an influence on the style of music, whether it is the 'English Countryside' feel of Vaughan Williams, the strength of Elgar's Victorian Malvern, or the skirl of Northumbrian Pipe tune.

Of East Midlands, has been said:-

"  The East Midlands work began in 1987 when the Revd Fred Pritchard held an introductory day for Prayer Ministry in Market Harborough, at which the speakers were Catherine and Douglas Field. Fred retired to South Wales in 1990. Graham and Joyce Butlin then led the work. In 1990 the South Midland Area began to form within the West Midlands Region and Graham Dow encouraged us to work together. We jointly held prayer ministry courses alternately in the South Midland area and the East Midland Region. Graham was then a vicar in Coventry. In 1995 Graham and Joyce handed over the leadership to the Revd Paul and Bryony Springate, until they were appointed Wardens of the Harnhill Centre of Christian Healing at the end of 1996. "
